TIME TO END COUNCIL HOKEY COKEY OVER WASTE PLANS

Labour PPCs Jude Robinson and Lee Jameson are hoping that, for the sake of taxpayers in Cornwall, the on/off decisions over waste plans have finally come to an end.

Jude Robinson said: "The 'hokey cokey' decisions over waste proposals have cost taxpayers too much already. The Council must keep to its commitment to close United Downs landfill and get on with tackling Cornwall's waste crisis."

Lee Jamieson, PPC for St Austell and Newquay said:  "The Lib Dems put forward the waste plans and signed up the contract for the plant at St Dennis. My opponent Stephen Gilbert and his fellow Lib Dems should take responsibility instead of carping at the councillors who have to sort out the mess."

The Lib Dems signed the 30 year contract with Sita in 2006 shortly after taking control of Cornwall Council.
