Jude Robinson is delighted that a bid for more than £6 million government funding towards new homes in Camborne has successfully gone through to the second round and has contacted the Housing Minister, John Healey MP, in support.
Galliford Try Homes Ltd could win £6,082,000 to build 95 new homes at Dolcoath in Camborne. The company specialises in building new homes on brownfield sites and is the parent company of Midas Homes, based in the South West.
Jude said:
"This is exactly what we need in Camborne: a mixed development of homes to buy and rent in an area that is crying out for improvement. The government sets strict terms on Kickstart money to provide local jobs and apprenticeships, so there are more benefits for our economy. I have contacted the Minister to support the scheme and hope all goes well for the final bid."
Housing Minister John Healey announced Wednesday 16 December that 265 projects have been shortlisted for a share of £550 million. 22,500 new homes will be built nationally because of this new investment.
The Kickstart Programme aims to restart building sites for residential housing which have stalled in the recession - to meet housing needs and keep workers using their skills.
The Programme aims to reinvigorate housebuilding, while at the same time supporting this generation of workers and giving the next generation the chance to gain new skills through apprenticeships.
The Kickstart Programme is being delivered by the Government's national housing and regeneration body, the Homes and Communities Agency.
The Dolcoath scheme is a key part of the regeneration work in Camborne by CPR Regeneration. Outline planning permission for the Dolcoath site was approved in October 2007 for 390 homes, plus space for businesses and light industry, community provision and open space. This scheme will also deliver the next phase of the East West link road, designed as a new avenue linking Wesley Street to Dolcoath
