The Cornwall Labour Party, made up of members from across the county, has chosen Jude Robinson, who was Camborne & Redruth's candidate at the General Election, as its new Chair.
Jude said: "It is a real privilege to be given the opportunity to work with Labour Party members, councillors and supporters in Cornwall at such an important time. The Lib Dems have abandoned their election promises to protect Cornwall from cuts and are propping up a minority Tory government. Labour is the only opposition in Cornwall and the country to the Lib/Con coalition. We will be working hard to campaign for our communities in every area of Cornwall."
In recent weeks Cornwall has seen a surge in Labour membership as people have reacted angrily to the coalition between Lib Dems and Tories. Many Labour voters in Cornwall feel their tactical vote for the Lib Dems was given on the false promise of keeping the Tories out of office in the country.
