CITY OF CULTURE FAILURE A 'BLESSING IN DISGUISE'

Jude Robinson, Labour PPC for Camborne, Redruth & Hayle has said that Cornwall's failure to win the City of Culture bid is the best outcome.

Jude said:

"Sadly, the failure of the bid is a blessing in disguise, although I regret the need to say this.

"The Council's Children's Services are failing and have to be supported by government, care for the elderly and disabled is an underfunded scandal, the waste and landfill plans are in crisis and our housing services are in difficulty. Cornwall Council needs to focus on its core services, get its finances in order and deliver for local people before making ambitious bids that will impose more work on officers."
