Labour is the only party that has delivered for Cornwall.  After 18 years of Tory government, our economy was on a par with Eastern Europe.  When Candy Atherton was elected to serve as Labour MP for Falmouth & Camborne in 1997, she lobbied to change the statistical measures so that Cornwall  be separated from Devon and qualify for EU funding.

Over the next 8 years, Labour introduced the National Minimum Wage (Lib Dems argued for regional wages), saved our community hospitals from closure, rebuilt schools and hospitals, brought the School of the Future to Camborne, regeneration money to the poorest areas of the county, built a new university campus at Tremough, invested in Camborne School of Mines and the Marine Research Institute, developing the wave hub off Hayle so that Cornwall now leads the world in renewable technology from wave power, dualled the Goss Moor and created a wildlife reserve, built the Peninsula Medical School at Treliske and the Knowledge Spa to support jobs and research, supported the Cornish language and heritage.

If you think this is a good record, join us.  If you thought this was the Lib Dems, it wasn't - and neither was the £94 million that Julia Goldsworthy claimed on her election leaflets.
